Farm Bureau and Central Coast Young Farmers and Ranchers scholarship applications will ask scholarship applicants to imagine they operate a farm or ranch and "describe how you intend to sustain the economic viability of your operation." Farm Bureau and Central Coast Young Farmers and Ranchers have combined their scholarship programs and offer a single application form. All you have to do is complete the application, mark which scholarships you are applying for, provide the attachments specified in the application, and submit the completed package. You can apply for both Farm Bureau and YF&R scholarships with this single form.
MCVGF: The Monterey County Vintners and Growers Foundation offers scholarships for 2009 graduating high school seniors whose parent(s) are winery or vineyard workers employed by a Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association (MCVGA) member. Awards range from $500 - $2500. Applications (provided here in English and Spanish) must be received by April 30, 2009. Call MCVGF at 831/375-9400 for more information.
CWA: Scholarships for Women Pursuing Degrees in Agriculture and for Farm Workers are offered by California Women for Agriculture. Application deadline is April 24, 2009. CAPCA Monterey Bay: The Monterey Bay Chapter of the California Agricultural Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) is offering two scholarships of $1000 each, in memory of Jose Luis Mandujano, a local pest control advisor who passed away in 2001. The scholarships are for students who are pursuing a degree in production agriculture at any community college or university offering a degree in production agriculture and who reside in Monterey, Santa Cruz or San Benito Counties. CAPCA: The Stanley W. Strew Educational Fund, Inc. annually offers two scholarships: one $3,000 scholarship from the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) and one $2,000 scholarship from Syngenta. : This grower-owned cooperative offers a $1,000 scholarship to shareholders and immediate family (children), that are graduating high school seniors and plan to continue on to college or university, majoring in agriculture or an ag-related field. Fishing Heritage Scholarships in varying amounts up to $2,500, for descendant of a licensed California commercial fisherman, current spouse of a licensed California commercial fisherman, or holder of a valid California commercial fishing license for at least the past ten (10) years.
